Things have been happening up at Lonely Tree. On Thursday 30th November tiny potential replacements were planted in an extended enclosure next to the fallen Lonely Tree. The hope is that at least one of these 17 will take and people will be picnicking beneath its branches in just a few short decades.
The trees include a daughter of the Lonely Tree lovingly raised and donated by Keith and Decia, and a sapling from nearby the trees cared for by Pauline and Bryn. The other 15 trees were provided by Prees Heath Forest Nurseries, and planting advice was gratefully received from John Browne and Patrick Green.
Thanks to Richard Kretchmer, Dewi Morris, Peter Lewis, John Swannick and David Goodman for planting the hopefuls in some bitter winds. And to Barry Thomas for sorting the fencing extension.
