The new bins have arrived in Llanfyllin which means we can now recycle compostable waste, great if you don’t have your own compost heap. The food waste gets turned into compost for fertiliser or land restoration. The weekly collection of general waste will now be every two weeks from your new wheelie-bin, or purple bags if you don’t have one. Black bags will no longer be collected. More information can be found here on the FAQ page of the Powys website.
The decision to use an Oxfordshire-based company to process the food waste instead of the Powys business Cwm Harry Trust has been a controversial one, and a facebook page has been set up to lobby Powys about this.
