5th Annual St Myllin’s Days Celebrations
Watch the local press for details of the great programme being organised by Marinke, Sian and Hermione, or contact them via firstname.lastname@example.org Come and join in celebrating Llanfyllin.
Monday July 6th
Meeting at Y Dolydd at 7.30pm
A chance to see a part of the Workhouse which has changed least over the years and which will be the site of the new History Centre and Community Project. John Hainsworth will explain the exciting proposals. We will also hear about the Ecological Survey which is taking place this summer.
Monday September 7th
The Medical Men of Victorian Llanfyllin
Former surgeon Graham Kyle will talk about The Medical Men of Victorian Llanfyllin with fascinating detail, such as why in 1847 Dr Thomas Prichard presented a £5,000 bill for a single patient.
Monday October 5th
Abandoned Farm Buildings
The recording of the huge number of abandoned farm buildings in our local area by Civic Society members in association with the Clwyd Powys Archaeological Trust began last year and has been a great success. Dewi Morris will show the interesting – and moving – pictures which were also displayed at the National Eisteddfod this year.

9th Annual Llanfyllin Photography Competition
Organised by Arts Connection and the Civic Society
Photographs can be entered under the following titles:
CALM Prizes: £25, £20, £15, £10, £5
WILD Prizes: £25, £20, £15, £10, £5
DECAY Prizes: £25, £20, £15, £10, £5
There will be 5 additional prizes of £5 for under 16 entries
The Cwpan Coffa Alun Evans Memorial Cup will be awarded for the best photograph in the competition.
The competition is open to all photographers but photos must be taken within Llanfyllin or its broad surrounding area.
Entry forms will be available nearer the competition. All entries should be sent or delivered by Tuesday November 3rd to Arts Connection, Youth and Community Centre , Llanfyllin SY22 5DR. ENTRY IS FREE.
Monday December 7th
Iolo Williams unveils the Welsh Tree of the Year 2015
We will be showing a film made by Pauline Page-Jones in February this year when a large crowd gathered at the Lonely Tree to see celebrated environmentalist Iolo Williams unveil the stone recording the Welsh Tree of the Year. Not to be missed! The showing will be followed by the Llanfyllin Civic Society AGM.
Unless stated all meetings are in the Public Institute at 7.30pm
Free to members of the Llanfyllin Society. £2 for non-members.
