I have just seen the notice in the town car park relating to proposed implementation of charges. These will be every day 8-6 starting at 70p for an hour.
As a small town we have an amazing amount of small shops, a vets, cafe and pubs. This is highly unusual, these days, for a place of this size. The reason is that the town is a local facility for a large rural area particularly to the west and we benefit from people coming into town, parking and spending their money, making these businesses viable.
At the moment it’s free and easy to do so. I think parking charges may change things and put some people off. Also some residents don’t have parking with their houses and rely on the car park. The notice makes no mention of a residents parking permit for Llanfyllin.
If you would like to object you must do it in writing by the 25th March to – Traffic and Travel Manager, Powys County Hall, Llandrindod Wells, Powys, LD1 5LG
and while we are at it let’s complain about the very short, 3 week, consultation that can only be participated in by snail mail!
